As a queer-identified, Latino clinical social worker I strive to create a safe therapeutic space for folks to process the challenges they are facing. My therapeutic orientation centers around an understanding that an individual’s mental health is impacted and shaped by surrounding systemic forces that interact with their points of identity.

I have worked with clients in therapeutic settings with diverse gender identities and expressions, including trans men, trans women, non-binary, genderqueer, gender fluid, and agender individuals.
I am very committed to being a provider who advocates for gender justice at both clinical and systems levels. I actively seek out trainings to enhance my understanding in how to best support gender expansive clients in my direct work, as well as lead trainings within my agency to spread this knowledge. I also am engaged with the work of the NM Queer & Trans Provider Network, where I assist with the referral processes and building upon the organizational structure. As a cisgender man, it is also important to acknowledge the gender privilege I have. I strive to approach clients in a culturally humble manner, and position my privilege to further gender justice in the organizations I engage with.
I have worked with individual clients in therapeutic settings with diverse sexualities, including folks who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, sexually fluid, polyamorous, consensually non-monogamous, and kinky.
I am very committed to being a provider who advocates for sexuality justice at various levels. Similarly with gender justice, I have provided trainings within my agency on this topic and supported initiatives with the NMQTPN to further advance client access to quality affirming services.

Considering intersectionality and how racially oppressive systems impact my clients’ mental health is a central part of my theoretical approach to therapy. I am committed to furthering racial justice initiatives at systemic levels and continuing my education in anti-racisim as it applies to both clinical and administrative work I do.
